The new Pokémon Snap game - imaginitavely titled New Pokémon Snap - has an official release date, with the game set to arrive on Switch on 30 April this year.

Revealing the release date in a new trailer, fans got a deeper look at the game that was first announced last year, with pre-orders open today.

The Pokémon Company also revealed more details about the game over on Twitter. The game will apparently take place in the Lental region, a new area that consists of ‘dense jungles’ and ‘vast deserts’, with players choosing one of 8 avatars at the beginning of the game.

You’re tasked by Professor Mirror with exploring the islands, aided by his research assistant Rita, and photographing Pokémon in their natural habitat. Strange glowing Pokémon also crop up, in a phenomenon known as ‘Illumina’, throughout the region and seem to serve as the game’s main mystery.
